The institution is committed to engaging the public through exhibitions, lectures, educational programs, and events. The range and level of Dallas Contemporary’s programs serve audiences in the metropolitan Dallas-Fort Worth area and beyond.

As the only bi-lingual institution in Texas solely dedicated to recent art and culture, Dallas Contemporary attracts audiences from the entire Southwest, while its touring exhibitions benefit audiences around the country and abroad. Modeled after European kunsthalle or art center, it is one of the few institutions of its type in the United States.

Building

Dallas Contemporary is located in a renovated industrial building. The vast and versatile space allows artists to create large-scale work. It is at 161 Glass Street in Dallas, and open to the public Tuesday through Sunday, admission is free.

Learning Programs


current exhibitions - In Intersections Anila Quayyum Agha has created a non-denominational spiritual   space inspired by her trip to the Alhambra Islamic Palace in Spain.

Art Think is a youth outreach program that allows high school students to examine and share observations on art, while laying a foundation for appreciation of the visual arts. This nationally awarded education program engages 12,000 North Texas students per year.

Taking it to the Streets is an outreach program that exposes young students to the world of street art, encourages them to make work of their own, and gives them the opportunity to experience an art museum for the first time.

Chit Chat is a program that engages learning through the art of conversation. By inviting artists to discuss their work and answer questions directly from visitors, Chit Chats increase dialogue, encourage debate, and stimulate exchange in visual art and culture.

DC University is a lecture series featuring North Texas college professors. Guest speakers explore current trends in contemporary art related to their areas of expertise.
